Brief job description

The offered job is to be a personal caregiver / nurse for a disabled person. Most of the work is to be done at fixed times at the client's home (located in Tartu), while another part of the work is as an accompanying person / medical assistant during travels (both within Estonia and abroad). The typical tasks include:

Note that it is not necessary to lift the patient. Due to the nature of the disability, the patient is fully mobile and can move between bed and wheelchair without any assistance.

There will be 2 caregivers sharing the work, each of them doing 50% of the shifts. How to share the shifts is agreed only between the caregivers and fully flexible. The only requirement is to agree between the two caregivers who will take which shift, and to communicate this in advance also to the client. The client should always know who will take the next shift.

Work times

Regular work in Tartu

There are two regular work shifts per day, and occasionally additional shifts, depending on needs (though mostly in winter). The regular shifts start every day 7:00 for the morning shift and Mo-Fr 18:00, Sa-Su 19:00 for the evening shift. Every shift takes usually 10-30 minutes, occasionally longer, depending on the amount of work that must be done on the corresponding day (it varies - sometimes there is laundry to be done, sometimes household cleaning, sometimes none of these…). There may be additional shifts (e.g., in case of a doctor's appointment while there is snow, help is needed to go there by car). Sometimes shift times need to be changed due to the client's work schedule. Such changes will be announced in advance.

NB! During the pandemic, all work is collapsed into a single morning shift per day at 7:00 to reduce contact times. The schedule will be restored once the condition has returned to normal.

Travel assistance

Travels happen around 5-7 times per year and typically take a few days until one week. During the whole travel, one caregiver will be accompanying the client, and provide help whenever needed. There will also be opportunities for spare time, but the length of these spare time periods is limited by the client's work schedule and the accompanying caregiver needs to be available on request also in these times, in case of an emergency.

Payment

Regular work in Tartu

The salary is 120€ / week total, to be shared between the two caregivers, hence 60€ / week / person, and will be paid weekly. This payment includes the regular shifts, as well as occasional additional shifts (help with shopping, doctor's appointments etc.).

Travel assistance

All travel costs (transport tickets, accommodation) are covered, and the accompanying caregiver does not have to pay anything. Also all meals during travels are covered. The payment during travels is 80€ / day. Note that during travels only the travel salary for the accompanying caregiver is paid, there is no payment for regular morning / evening shifts during this time.
