Thunderstorm

I had a painful dream last night:
Soldiers were screaming in a fight.
As I wake up in the dawn
The war has come into my town.
Around my house the bombs are falling.
I look outside, my friends are calling.

There's a thunderstorm rolling in my heart
With lightning and thunder breaking through the dark.
A voice in the wind telling me to kill,
But I never will!
There's a thunderstorm rolling in my mind.
My thoughts are destroying all I left behind.
I feel I live a brand new life.
And I will survive!

I'm on the edge, my life is turning.
Inside my veins my blood is burning.
I keep on asking myself why?
Is there a choice but kill or die?
I take munition and a gun
Before I leave and start to run.

I hear explosions everywhere,
The sound of missiles in the air.
Far away the tanks are coming.
I can see the people running.
This is a place we can not stay.
All we can do is run away.

When war is over after years
Nothing remains but endless fears.
Even when I return home
All I remember is now gone.
The only thought that's in my brain
Is war must never come again.
